Griswold began the week on the mats in Underwood on Tuesday, Dec. 13, dropping all three duals, but coming home with some individual wins.
The Tigers fell to Missouri Valley 78-0; Nodaway Valley 78-6; and Underwood 60-12.

Corner Conference tournament
Southwest Iowa wrestling won the Corner Conference duals held in Tarkio on Thursday, Dec. 15, with teams from East Mills, Griswold, and Tarkio competing.
Southwest Iowa went 3-0; East Mills 2-1; Tarkio 1-2; and Griswold 0-3.
East Mills defeated Griswold 48-18 and Tarkio 42-18, while dropping the dual to Southwest Iowa 51-16.
Griswold fell to Southwest Iowa 66-12 and Tarkio 18-12.

The East Mills grapplers competed in the Mustang Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 17, finishing as a team in fourth place with just four wrestlers on the team.

Ryan Stortenbecker brought home gold in the 145 bracket, going 5-0 on the day with four falls and one major decision (12-3).

152- Brodyn Wray went 3-2 with one fall, one major decision (10-1), placing third.
126- Andrew Laramy went 2-3 with one fall, placing fourth.
Girls wrestling
Red Oak and S.W.A.T. girls competed in the Panorama December Girls Scramble on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in Panorama.
Red Oak’s Nicole Bond finished in first place, going 2-0 on the day. Bond defeated Andyn White of Treynor by decision (5-1) and Emma Hill of Southern Tier by fall (2:30).
Red Oak’s Josie McCunn placed second, going 1-1 on the day. McCunn defeated Rio Johnson of S.W.A.T. by fall (1:34) and fell to Cieanna Ficken of West Marshall by fall (4:54).
Red Oak’s Tymberlee Bentley finished third, going 0-2 on the day.
Southwest Valley’s Ady Lundquist placed first, going 2-0 on the day. Lundquist defeated Taylor Atwell of Penry by fall (3:09) and Jayden Carrigan of Riverside by fall (1:49).
Southwest Valley’s Evy Marlin placed first, going 2-0. Marlin defeated Laila Christophersen of Manson Northwest Webster by fall (1:17) and Ana Wilson of Riverside by fall (2:35).
Griswold’s Paige Baier placed third going 0-2 on the day.
Pride of Iowa girls tournament
S.W.A.T. competed at Southeast Warren High School on Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Pride of Iowa girls tournament, and came away as the victors with 133.5 points.
