Golf Recap: Tigers seventh at LC tourney
COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Red Oak boys golf team finished seventh at the Lewis Central Invitational Thursday at the Fox Run Golf Course in Council Bluffs.
Red Oak recorded a team score of 343, finishing ahead of St. Albert, Heartland Christian, Brownell-Talbot and Bellevue East. Creston won the meet with a score of 301.
The Tigers narrowly missed out on placing in the top 10, individually. Red Oak’s top golfer was Justin Bernard, who shot an 83. Connor Johnson was one shot back with an 84, while Nick Carlson had an 87. Ryan Plambeck shot an 89, while both Nolan Black and Gabe Nelson each shot 92s.
Mustang Invitational
The Tigers meanwhile finished sixth in the large school portion of the Mustang Invitational, last Tuesday in Shenandoah.
The top golfer for Red Oak was Plambeck, who was the only one to place in the top 15. Plambeck tied for 13th with a score of 79. Black and Johnson both shot 85s, while Carlson finished with an 87. Bernard had a 90 and Nelson shot a 93.
Fillies Golf Invitational
The Red Oak girls golf team took fifth out of 12 teams (10 having official team scores) at Thursday’s Fillies Golf Invitational at the American Legion Country Club in Shenandoah.
Red Oak recorded a team score of 488, which placed them ahead of Abraham Lincoln, Glenwood, Nishnabotna, St. Albert and East Mills.
Creston won the meet with a score of 386.
Red Oak didn’t have a golfer in the top 12 for the tournament. Shelbie Perez was the top golfer for Red Oak as she shot an 18-hole total of 115. Lauren Gilbert was three shots back with a 118. Reilley Black had a 127, while Sadie Uhlenberg finished with a 128.

Southwest Valley
The Red Oak golf teams split their meet with Southwest Valley last Monday in Corning.
The boys won 168-196, while the girls lost 215-251.
In the boys meet, Carlson and Plambeck were medalist and runner-up. Carlson shot a 37, while Plambeck had a 41. Bernard and Black both shot 45s, while Johnson had a 49 and Nelson a 50.
For Southwest Valley, Ryan Carlson led with a 43. Cole Swenson shot a 46, while Joey Kernan had a 52 and Cody McMann recorded a 55. Cody Birt shot a 64 and Jarod Shires finished with a 67.
In the girls meet, Taylor Damewood (50) and Janelle Gibler (54) were medalist and runner-up for Southwest Valley.
Shelbie Perez was the top golfer for Red Oak as she shot a 58. Reilly Black had a 63, while Sadie Uhlenberg shot a 64 and Lauren Gilbert finished with a 66.
For Southwest Valley, Kiara Roberts had a 55, while Kim Hults had a 56. Bellamy Heaton shot a 58 and Allie Bronner finished with a 68.
