UPDATE: The cross country meet in Shenandoah is now scheduled to start at 4 p.m., instead of 4:30. This change has been added in the initial article.
There is plenty going on around the area for Thursday.
The Red Oak cross country team will be back in action (pending weather of course) as they take part in the Shenandoah Invite. The action starts at 4 p.m. Griswold and Southwest Valley are also scheduled to be at the meet.
Shower and thunderstorm chances are in the forecast for the afternoon. We'll have mostly cloudy skies and temperatures will stay around the 70s for highs.
As of now, the meet is on, but that could change.
There will also be several volleyball matches going on around the area Thursday evening.
Red Oak will be on the road as they take on Denison-Schleswig. The Tigers are coming off a 3-0 loss Tuesday night to Harlan.
Meanwhile, Denison-Schleswig struggles continue as they have yet to win a non-tournament match. All three of their wins have come during tournaments at Sioux City North and Red Oak.
The match is scheduled to start in Denison at 7:30 p.m.
In Corner Conference action, the Stanton Viqueens are home as they face Nishnabotna. Stanton had a win Tuesday night on the road versus Nishnabotna.
Nishnabotna meanwhile lost Tuesday night on the road versus Stanton.
The last time Stanton played Nishnabotna, they defeated them 3-0 to open the season Aug. 27.
Essex is home Tuesday night as they face Clarinda Academy. Essex picked up a 3-1 win over Nishnabotna Tuesday night, while Clarinda Academy is coming off the loss to Stanton. This will be the first meeting of the season between Essex and Clarinda Academy.
Finally, Griswold will be home Thursday evening as they host Riverside. The action is scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m. at Griswold High School.
