Tigers second at Clarke
OSCEOLA — The Red Oak Tigers girls' track team finished second out of seven teams at the Clarke Girls Invitational in Osceola, Thursday.
Red Oak scored 106 points, finishing just behind North Polk.
Caitlin Smith highlighted the meet for Red Oak with a win in the 100-meter dash. Smith ran a time of 13.61 seconds, four-tenths faster than Mount Ayr's Amanda Perrigo. Abbey Pratt took sixth in the same race.
Blake Bergren also had a win, doing so in the long jump with a jump of 15'7”. Jutta Hollt finished third in the same event.
The 4x100 and 4x200 teams picked up the other two wins for Red Oak.
The 4x100 team of Bergren, Hollt, Smith and Maddy Mann won with a time of 53.72 seconds. The 4x200 team of Mann, Smith, Bergren and Josie Snyder won with a 1:54.67.
Snyder had a third place finish in the high jump, leaping 4'6”.
Red Oak's relay teams had several second place finishes, including the sprint medley, which featured Snyder, Mann, Smith and Erica Jackson.
The 4x400 team of Bergren, Snyder, Mann and Gabi French also took second, with a time of 4:33.20.
Individually, Jessie Hemphill placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.61 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, Hemphill took fourth with a time of 1:19.49. Itzel Mendez had a sixth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
Hollt finished second in the 200-meter dash, running 29.34 seconds. Pratt was a second behind Hollt, finishing fifth.
Caitlyn Soden and Sydney Sallach finished fifth and sixth respectively, in the 3000-meter race. The 4x800 relay team ran 12:51.57 to take sixth place.
The Red Raider Relays are next on the schedule for Red Oak, which will take place on Thursday.
It will be the Tigers final meet before the Conference Co-Ed meet in Atlantic.
