T’Wolves fall to Nodaway Valley
GREENFIELD — The Southwest Valley softball season ended last Wednesday when they lost 10-0 in five innings to Nodaway Valley in the quarterfinals of the 2A regional tournament.
The difference in the game was the second inning when Nodaway Valley scored seven runs to take an 8-0 lead.
The Wolverines scored a run in the third and fifth inning to put the game away.
The Timberwolves were held hitless in the game.
It was the final game for seniors Kim Hults, Lexie Bronner, Allie Bronner and Janelle Gibler.
Southwest Valley (6-18) reached the quarterfinals with their 12-2 win last Tuesday over Audubon in the first round.
The Timberwolves scored four runs in the fifth inning, which helped them get the win via the mercy rule.
Hults stepped up big with her bat as she went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs.
Danica Sunderman was 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Janelle Gibler was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Kiara Roberts and Ashtyn Grossnickle each scored two runs for Southwest Valley.
Kylie McBride got the win and went five innings, giving up two runs (zero earned) on six hits and striking out five.
