The Tiger boys tallied 69 points for third place. The girls were eighth with a score of 176.
“What a great night for our Tigers,” said Red Oak coach Sueann French. “We said to the kids before we raced tonight how we have to turn the corner this evening at the conference meet and start running in a pack as a team. The varsity boys did just that! Being only four points from Shenandoah made our team feel so much better about going into state qualifying.”
Emmanuel Grass had a great night for the Tigers, placing second in 16:58. Hayden Hietbrink added a fifth place finish in 17:24.
On the girls side, Malory Jenkins was ninth. The freshman ran a 23:05.
“All of the kids ran so well tonight, super proud of everyone, and we just now need to peak in two weeks at state qualifying,” French said. “Still waiting to hear where we will race, but I feel like we are so much more ready after tonight. Coach (Weston) Rolenc and I are super proud of the kids.”
