Sports Calendar: September 30
The last day of September is here and the fall sports action continues for the day.
For the first time in 10 days, the Red Oak volleyball team will be in action. They have a tough test ahead Tuesday night when they take on the No. 1-ranked in Class 4A Harlan Cyclones. The action starts with the JV/9th grade team playing at 5:45 p.m. The varsity match is currently scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start at Harlan Community High School.
Red Oak finished second in their home tournament on Sept. 20. The Tigers have had more than a week to prepare for the match-up with Harlan, who also hasn't played for a week.
The Cyclones have one loss on the season and it came Sept. 6 in West Des Moines to Dowling Catholic during a tournament.
Both Red Oak and Harlan faced off Sept. 30 at the Harlan Tournament. The Cyclones won that meeting 2-0.
Elsewhere, the Essex Trojanettes will face off against the Stanton Viqueens at Allen Stuart Gymnasium with a start time scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Viqueens are back on track after their strong weekend at the Bedford Tournament, winning the championship.
Essex meanwhile finished fourth at Saturday's Southwest Valley Tournament.
Both teams will be looking to get a win heading into next week's Corner Conference tournament.
East Mills will also be home Tuesday night as they host South Page. The varsity match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
