Sports Calendar: September 16
The high school volleyball season continues Tuesday evening with a big slate of matches around the area.
After winning the Griswold tournament Saturday, the Red Oak Tigers return to the volleyball court Tuesday night when they go to Council Bluffs and face Lewis Central.
Red Oak is off to a 12-1 (2-0 in the Hawkeye 10) start thus far in 2014. Their lone loss came against Harlan at the Harlan Volleyball Tournament. They cruised through the competition at the Griswold Volleyball Tournament Saturday, not dropping a game during it all.
Lewis Central meanwhile is 5-4 overall (1-0 in the Hawkeye 10). Their last match was a win at home last Tuesday against St. Albert. The losses on their record came against Ankeny Centennial (twice), Waukee and Iowa City High at volleyball tournaments.
The varsity match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
Elsewhere, the Southwest Valley Timberwolves will be playing their only match in Villisca Tuesday evening as they host the Lenox Tigers. The matches are all expected to start at 6 p.m.
In Corner Conference action, the Essex Trojanettes will be home when they host the Sidney Cowgirls. The varsity match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start in the Allen Stuart Gymnasium at Essex High School.
East Mills will also be home as they host Nishnabotna. The varsity match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Finally, in Western Iowa Conference action, the Griswold Tigers will be home as they host Tri-Center. The varsity match is expected to start at 7:45 p.m.
