RO student arrested for gun threat

A Red Oak High School student was arrested following a threat  to a teacher at the school.

Officers with the Red Oak Police Department were called to the high school at around 11 a.m. after being notified a 17-year-old male juvenile had threatened a staff member.

The juvenile was arrested on a charge of first-degree harassment for threatening to use a gun on the staff member. Police Chief Justin Rhamy said the school was not placed on lockdown, and a search was conducted, but no gun was located.

“The student never stated that he had a gun in his possession and made a non-directive general threat in reference to a gun that obviously raised concern of school staff and officials, which led to the involvement of the Red Oak Police Department,” commented Rhamy.

The juvenile was transported to the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center, and later transported to the Juvenile Detention Facility in Council Bluffs.
