Red Oak loses to ranked Glenwood and Lewis Central

COUNCIL BLUFFS —The Red Oak Tigers girls’ basketball team lost to two ranked teams on the road last Thursday and Friday.

Their most recent loss was against the Lewis Central Titans, ranked 14th in the latest Class 4A rankings, 58-25.

Last Thursday, Red Oak lost to the fifth ranked in Class 3A Glenwood Rams, 74-27.

The key difference in the game was when Glenwood outscored Red Oak, 48-9 in the first half. At one point in the game, the Rams scored 17 straight points.

Gabi French was the team's leading scorer, finishing with 16 points for the night. The next highest scorer for Red Oak was Bailey Hankins, who finished with five points.

Sabrina Guerra, Kate Walker and Elin Skorpen each recorded two points.

Glenwood was led by Lexi Fisher and Kierney Motz, who both had double-digit points. Fisher finished with 13, while Motz recorded 10.
The Tigers enter the holiday break with a 3-6 record for the season. Red Oak will be back in action on Jan. 3 when they play the Creston Panthers.

Red Oak's next home game is Jan. 13 against Atlantic.
