Red Oak Bowling sweeps Holiday Tournament

COUNCIL BLUFFS —The Red Oak Bowling teams won titles at the Thomas Jefferson Holiday Tournament in Council Bluffs Friday afternoon.

The Red Oak boys’ team won the title with a score of 2,872, which was at least 100 pins more than second place Lewis Central’s total.
Meanwhile, the girls’ team held off LeMars by six pins to win the team title. They won with a score of 2,311.

Brian Wade led the way for the boys team, bowling a 396 series. Casey Dykes was a few pins behind Wade, bowling a 392 series.

Taylor Mellott had a 381 series, while David Terry bowled a 355.
Hayden Berry finished with a 349 series and Corey Marsden bowled a 271.

Teesha Hardy led the way for the girls’ team by bowling a 351 series and 177 high game.

Jayden Hilding was the only other Red Oak bowler to finish with a 300 series as she bowled a 303.

Shelby Storesund, Kaitlin Walston and Kristi Yardas all bowled a 290, 284 and 283. Maranda Myers finished with a 267 series.

Last Tuesday, both Red Oak varsity bowling teams picked up their second straight victory of the season, doing so against Creston, at Red Oak Lanes.

The boys' team defeated Creston 2,962-2,462, while the girls' won 2,286-2,159.

Dykes had the highlight for the series games by bowling a 446 series and a 246 high game, leading the boys team in both categories.

The boys' team nearly had a 400 pin advantage, going into the Baker games.

Terry and Mellott both had 400 series, Terry with a 408 and Mellott with 403.

Wade was a few pins shy of a 400 series, bowling a 392 for the afternoon. Berry finished with a 356 and Marsden bowled a 304 series.

The girls varsity team meanwhile held nearly a 100 pin lead as they went into the Baker games. Four bowlers finished with a 300 series, with Storesund leading the way with 325 and a 163 high game.
Hilding bowled a 324 series, while Brittany Plambeck had a 323.

Yardas was the fourth bowler to attain a 300 series, finishing with a 302 and 162 high game. Myers bowled a 266 series and Walston had a 253.

Both junior varsity teams also picked up wins last Tuesday over the Creston Panthers.

The JV boys team won 2,170-1,769 and the girls JV won 1,782-1,402.

Kris Hardy led the JV boys team with a 368 series and a 198 high game.

Dylan Brown was the other bowler to finish with a 300 series as he had a 302. Shane Majerus bowled a 298 series,  Dallas Wenberg finished with a 267, Dallas Meyers had a 227 and Austin LeRette bowled a 205.

For the JV girls, Allison Aufdenberg bowled a 294 series to lead the way. Teesha Hardy was behind Aufdenberg with a 275 series.

Jazmyne George bowled a 224 series, Marissa Sherman finished with a 221 and Brandy Childers had a 216.

Red Oak will compete again in Council Bluffs, taking on Lewis Central Tuesday.
