Incident Reports
On July 31, at 2:22 a.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department located a 17-year-old female from Red Oak on a juvenile court order. She was located during a traffic stop at 8th St., and Washington, in Red Oak. She was taken into custody without incident and following a short investigation, items of drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle belonging to her. She was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and processed on the juvenile pickup order as well as a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was subsequently transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Council Bluffs to await further court action.
On July 31, at 7:02 a.m., a 17 -year-old female from Elliott was arrested on charges of runaway, possession of stolen property and two counts of forgery. The arrest occurred after a victim went to the Red Oak Police Department to report someone had taken and used some of his checks without his permission. Officers did a thorough investigation, arrested the 17-year-old, then transported her to the Juvenile Detention Center in Council Bluffs. Officers in the Red Oak Police Department know the defendant did not act alone while committing these crimes and more arrests are to be expected in this case.
Between July 31, at 9 p.m., and Aug. 1, at 1:28 p.m., someone(s) tried to steal a Polaris 500 ATV belonging to Sammy Reinhold Curtis, of Red Oak, by hot wiring it in an attempt to start it. During the attempted theft, the offender(s) damaged several parts on the ATV, amounting to about $800 in damage.
On Aug. 1, at 11:37 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a female indicating she was intoxicated and needed help. She indicated she was near the city hall in Villisca and by the Napa store. Cassidy M. Colebank, 18, of Villisca, was located laying on the sidewalk in front of the Napa store. She appeared to be intoxicated and stated she had been drinking, but denied using anything other than alcohol. She was checked by Villisca Rescue and refused any medical treatment. Colebank submitted to a PBT which indicated a BAC of .110 and she was transported to the Montgomery County Jail without incident. Colebank is charged with Public Intoxication and was held on a $300 bond.
On Aug. 2, the Mont-gomery County Sheriff’s Office took a report of vandalism to a vehicle in the city of Villisca. Sherry M. Gray, 46, of Villisca, reported someone(s) scratched words into the driver side door of her 2002 Ford Windstar while it was parked in her driveway, causing an estimated $700 in damage. Anyone with information is asked to call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 623-5107 or the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at (800) 432-1001.
Accident Reports
On Aug. 1, at 10:18 p.m., a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Norma Lucille Schoening, 85, of Emerson, was headed north on N. 4th St., which is a one way street, and approached the intersection with E. Valley St. Schoening was driving in the east lane of traffic. A 2007 Honda Ridgeline driven by John David Walker, 69, of Red Oak, was also headed north on N. 4th St., behind Schoening and switched to the west lane to pass Schoening. At the same time, Schoening was attempting a left turn onto E. Valley St., and struck Walker in the right rear fender causing an estimated $800 in damage. Schoening’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,000 damage.
