ONLINE ONLY: Charges dismissed against Glenwood men

Update: A jury found Colton Radford not guilty of all charges at a trial in July, 2013. Charges were then dropped against Brandt Hopp. 

PACIFIC JUNCTION – Two former Glenwood firefighters are facing charges associated with a 2012 incident in which they are accused of paying a woman for sex. 

Following an investigation by the Glenwood Police Department, Mills County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Colton Radford, 23, and Brandt Hopp, 31, are charged with multiple felonies.

According to the press release, on Sept. 9 in rural Pacific Junciton, Radford and Hopp solicited a female friend to have sex with another individual in exchange for money.

However, due to her level of intoxication, the victim lost consciousness before Hopp engaged in sexual acts with her. 

After she regained consciousness, she pushed Hopp away and left with the money she had previously received. 

Hopp is charged with sex abuse in the third degree and pandering, two felony charges that carry up to a 10 and five-year prison sentence. His bond is currently set at $15,000. 

Radford is charged with pandering and pimping, two felony charges with up to a five-year prison sentence. His bond is $5,000.

The men are scheduled to appear March 27 for a preliminary hearing on the charges. 

The press release also states while the two men knew each other through a mutual affiliation with the Glenwood fire department, they are no longer associated with the emergency service.
