Steven Godbout, 33

Steven Godbout, 33, Fredericksburg, Va., passed away Jan. 21, 2023, after suffering a stroke.
Steven was born Feb. 13, 1989, in Garner, N.C., the son of Jeff Godbout and Peggy Adkins. He joined the U.S. Army at age 19 and served as a Satellite Transportable Terminal Operator, deployed to Iraq twice, once in 2008 and again in 2010. Currently, Steven was a contractor with the Naval Criminal Investigation Services working with information technology in Quantico, Va.
Steven was preceded in death by his brother, Tony.
Survivors include his parents, Jeff Godbout of Red Oak; Peggy Adkins of Garner, N.C.; brother, Charles Cornwell of Garner, N.C.; grandparents, Ron and Mary Ellen Godbout of Red Oak; and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service with military honors will be held at a later date at the national cemetery in Virginia.
