Richard "Dick" Adams, 87

Richard Eugene “Dick” Adams, 87, Red Oak, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.
Dick was born Nov. 24, 1935, in Montgomery County near Villisca, the son of Leonard and Adeline (Livengood) Adams. The family lived many different places when Dick was growing up, but he lived most of his life in Red Oak.
Dick was united in marriage to Joanne “Jody” Rockwell on June 17, 1956, in Red Oak. In his early years, he was a farm hand, worked construction, drove for Red Oak Transfer, delivered feed for Wayne Feed, and was a mechanic at Phillips 66. Later he worked at Eveready Battery until it closed, and then owned and operated Red Oak Printing with Jody until 2017 when he retired. He also retired from serving in the Iowa Army National Guard. His hobbies included golf, bowling, fishing, camping, collecting model cars, and collecting coins.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Joanne “Jody” Adams on March 11, 2023; brothers, Lowell, William, and Donald Adams; two infant sisters; and sister, Karen Clark.
Survivors include his son, Ric Adams and wife Roxanna of Villisca; daughter, Deb Cary and husband Byron of Farragut; four grandchildren, Joshua Johnson and wife Misty of Bennington, Neb.; Dustin Johnson and wife Kristie of Papillion, Neb.; Sarah Crossen and husband James of Omaha, Neb.; and Kelsey Park and husband Kyle of Carroll; eight step-grandchildren, Carrie Nunez and husband Paul of SeaTac, Wash.; Jason McCorkle of Audubon; Joseph James and wife Jarin of Hendersonville, Tenn.; Matthew Smith of Villisca; Luke Smith and wife Danielle of Loveland, Colo.; Vic Schmidt of Iowa City; Tracy Jones and fiancé Mike Morgan of Lincoln, Neb.; and Kelly Dallman of Spokane, Wash.; many great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Adams and wife Karen of Ft. Myers, Fla.; sister, Janice Jensen and husband Jerry of Johnston; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service was held Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
