Lula Carlson, 84

Lula M. Carlson, 84, Nebraska City, Neb., formerly of Red Oak, was born July 19, 1938, at rural Red Oak, the daughter of Frederick William “Fred” and Beulah Elizabeth (Smith) Knittel.
She graduated from Stennett Consolidated High School, Class of 1956.
 She was married to Paul E. Carlson on Sept. 20, 1956, and was a longtime employee American Meter Co., Nebraska City.
She is survived by children, Russell Carlson of Nebraska City; William Carlson (Jennifer Talbert Carlson) of Olathe, Colo.; Kenneth Carlson of Nebraska City; Pamela Carlson of Nebraska City; and Valerie Witte (Allen) of Johnson, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; granddaughter LuvStarr Adkins; siblings, Margaret Simpson, Doris Morris and Darwin “Bud” Knittel as well as her parents.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 14, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, with burial in the Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Gude Mortuary.
