Janice Peterson, 94

Janice G. Peterson, 94, Stanton, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at Arlington Place in Red Oak.
Janice Genevieve Peterson, the daughter of Floyd and Mary (Mitchell) Fast, was born on Nov. 14, 1929, near Morton’s Mill.
Janice was raised in the Morton’s Mill area and graduated from Villisca in l948. On April 22, 1949, Janice was united in marriage to Stanley D. Peterson in Stanton, and for 74 years Stanton was their home. Over the years, she worked for Stanton Community School in the cafeteria and at Stanton Care Center in the laundry department.
She was a fabulous baker, and her rye bread, cinnamon rolls and Swedish tea-rings were the best. She enjoyed golfing, volunteering at the Senior Citizens Center, and visiting with people. Janice was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church and active in the ladies circles. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley on July 17, 2020; son, Craig Peterson; great-grandchild, Maggie Soll; brothers, Clark Fast, Wayne Fast, and Orville Fast and sister, Juanita Burton and their spouses.
Janice is survived by her two daughters, Vickie (Lynn) Wolfe of Villisca and Cindy (Alan) Beeson of Red Oak; six grandchildren, Aimee (Cody) Mauderly, Emilee Soll, Erin Bowden, Kelly (Eric) Kline, Ryan (Samantha) Beeson, and Sarah (Nate) Perrien; 17 great-grandchildren, Mackensie (Cody) Sparks; Max Mauderly; Farrah, Gracie and Jackson Soll; Reece Larson; Brock Bowden; Tyler, AJ and Stella Beeson; Nolan, Marlee and Mia Perrien; Sam, Jack, Charlie and Lucy Kline; three great-great-grandchildren, Bennett, Betsi and Lili; sisters, Joan Watts of Villisca and Mary Roll of Colorado; sister-in-law, JoAnn English of Burnsville, Minn.; and brother-in-law, Vincent Peterson of Placentia, Calif.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Mamre Cemetery, Stanton. Family and friends are to meet at the cemetery prior to the service.  Inurnment will be in the Mamre Cemetery, Stanton.
Memorials may be directed to the Stanton Fire & Rescue Department.
