Gustaf Alm, 96

Gustaf Adolf Emanuel Alm, 96, Nyman, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center.
Gustaf was born July 24, 1926, near Stanton, the son of Malker Emanuel and Greta Gunhild Wilhelmina (Dahlgren) Alm. He attended school at Nyman and later received his GED while he served in the U.S. Army during Korea. Gustaf farmed on the family farm and continued to do so after his time of military service.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Johnson on Dec. 27, 1953, in Stromsburg, Neb. In addition to farming, Gustaf was a mechanic who could fix any piece of machinery. He loved to tinker and figure things out. He was a longtime member of the Fremont Lutheran Church at Nyman.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Ruth Marie Alm; sons, Rodney Dwayne Alm and Craig Douglas Alm; brother, Clifford Alm; and sisters, Joanna Brokaw and Ruth Miller.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Alm of Nyman; daughter, Joyce Alm-Nichols of Red Oak; grandchildren, Benjamin Nichols and wife Tes of Kansas City, Mo. and Andrew Nichols of Sherman, Texas; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at the Fremont Lutheran Church at Nyman. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Nyman.
