Bill McFarland, 82
Bill S. McFarland, 82, Red Oak, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak.
Billy Sie McFarland, the son of Clyde and Laura (Lewis) McFarland, was born July 28, 1940, at Villisca. Bill was raised on a farm near Villisca and graduated from Villisca High School in 1957. He went to work at Hunt’s Super Valu while he was in high school. He joined the Iowa Army National Guard, having served a full enlistment.
On Aug. 27, 1961, Bill was united in marriage to Judy L. Larson at the Stratton United Methodist Church. They made their home on the family farm northeast of Red Oak, where Bill dedicated his life to farming, even after they moved to Red Oak in 2003.
Bill enjoyed riding on the pontoon boat, camping with the family, and traveling. He especially loved having the children, grandchildren and great-grandkids around. Bill was a member of the Stratton United Methodist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy on Dec.26, 2019; and four sisters, Juanita, Bernice, Bonnie and Mary Jane.
Bill is survived by his three children, Leslie McFarland of Red Oak; Teresa (Lon) Richardson of Fort Bridger, Wyo.; and Don McFarland of Red Oak; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Axel (Bette) Larson of Red Oak; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service was held Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.
Burial with military honors was at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak.
