Sen. Ernst to co-facilitate Caucus awareness seminar Tuesday night
RED OAK — With the nation’s first caucuses scheduled to take place here in Iowa three weeks from now, the Montgomery County Republican Committee is hosting a public seminar Tuesday night.
Issues to be covered include why the caucus is important, what takes place at a caucus and what a citizen’s role in the process is.
The non-partisan caucus awareness seminar is scheduled to take place Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Montgomery County Family YMCA in Red Oak.
Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, Montgomery County Republican Committee Chair Margaret Stoldorf and Steve Scheffler, National Committeeman from the Republican National Convention will facilitate the event.
Five caucus sites have been secured to cover the seven voting precincts in Montgomery County.
Red Oak Precincts 1, 2 and 3 will caucus at the Red Oak High School; Precinct 4 will meet at the Elliott Community Building; Precinct 5 meets at the Stanton High School; and Precincts 6 and 7 will meet in the Villisca High School.
The caucuses take place Jan. 3, 2012, at 7 p.m.
Current Republican candidates include Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum and Herman Cain.
The candidates participated in a debate over the weekend in Des Moines.
