Tornadoes blow through SW Iowa

The northern part of Page County saw tornadic activity on April 17. Pictured above, among the portions of Essex damaged by the storm were NEW Cooperative, which had grain bins destroyed. Pictured below, the roof was taken off a house and trees were heavily damaged near Pierce Creek Recreation Area. The National Weather Service in Omaha rated the tornado an EF-1, with a max width of 1.78 miles wide. Roofs, outdoor buildings, and trees were all damaged by the storm.
