Garage fire in Red Oak

Firefighters and rescue personnel from multiple agencies tackled an early morning garage fire July 5.

 

At around 1:55 a.m., the Red Oak Fire Department was dispatched to 500 W. Coolbaugh for a reported detached garage fire. Upon arrival, smoke and flames were visible. Firefighters initiated fire suppression operations.

 

The fire was quickly brought under control. Fire contained to the southwest corner of the garage. There was minimal structural damage to the garage.

 

Fire originated on the exterior, southwest portion of the garage where trash and trashcans were placed. Fire extended up the corner and across the west wall of the garage. There was minimal fire intrusion to the interior, and no injuries reported.

 

It was also noted that there was a considerable amount of firework debris located in the immediate area. The Red Oak Police Department received calls for fireworks complaints in this area as well.

Assisting the Red Oak Fire Department at the scene was the Elliott Fire Department, Red Oak Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, The sheriff’s office communications center, and MidAmerican Utilities.
