Fres-co recommits to annual pledge for Red Oak Child Development Center

The Red Oak Child Development Center is celebrating the renewal of an annual funding gift.
On Aug. 25, Greg Armstrong, the Plant Director of Fres-co System USA, Inc. in Red Oak joined ROCDC director Jordan Lunzman and ROCDC Board Member Tim Werges to re-commit to its annual pledge of $5,000 per year to the center.
“Fresco made an initial five-year, $25,000 pledge when the center opened, and it expired as of 2025. With that in mind, I contacted Ileana Tovaglieri, our CEO, and Ed Walsh, the senior vice president of operations. Both have been supporters and fans of the Development Center, and both have visited the center on multiple occasions,” said Armstrong. “When I asked if they wanted to continue the pledge, they said they absolutely wanted to continue, and rather than this be a five year pledge, it is now in place indefinitely. Fres-co’s been involved in a number of projects, like when the Montgomery County Family YMCA was built, but Ed said this probably is closest to his heart.”
Armstrong added that he’s been involved with the idea and planning of the center starting in 2019, as well as serving as a ROCDC Board Member since the beginning. With Fres-co’s unique position, Armstrong said they’ve been able to do other things for the center.
“Fres-co has provided other needed items to the center as well as providing resources to help with some improvements. We ended up contributing money for the installation of a sandbox on the playground, as well as the sand, and we’ve provided our maintenance workers for some of the projects as well. Ed Walsh is coming back to the area in September, and we’ll be paying another visit to the center when he’s in town,” commented Armstrong.
Werges said financial contributions like these are essential in keeping the center open and operational.
“The center doesn’t operate in a sustainable manner without donor support. It’s much appreciated when it comes in, and it will go towards the center’s operations. All donations go towards the center’s operations, unless dictated otherwise by the donors,” stated Werges.
Lunzman said some of the money may be used for classroom activities, field trips, or supplies.
