Johnson Controls closings won't include Red Oak

RED OAK—Johnson Controls Inc. of Red Oak will not be one of the manufacturing plants being closed by the parent company.

This is good news for the 70 people employed in the plant that makes a component for the automobile battery.

George Maher, executive director of the Red Oak Industrial Foundation, said Friday that he had spoken with executives from the Red Oak plant.

“Everything I get from those I speak with is that it does not affect them,” Maher said.

Red Oak plant manager Brad Claycamp confirmed that the closings would not impact Red Oak.

“There are 10 plant closings, but we’re not affected,” Claycamp said. “We’re not on that list.”

In recent months, another Red Oak plant’s workforce was caught off guard when the Echo Window plant closed unexpectedly and the community hoped Johnson Controls Inc.’s downsizing would not include closure of the Red Oak plant.

According to Claycamp, people don’t have to be concerned about the plant in Red Oak.

“We’re doing pretty good here,” Claycamp said Friday.
