Inman Primary School Recognized

Inman Primary School staff was recognized as a “Patriotic Employer” by The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The award is presented to employers for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve.

Inman Primary School staff was nominated by Sgt. Lacey McCormick, a teacher’s aide. McCormick is a member of the 1168th Transportation Company, currently deployed to Kuwait. McCormick noted that the IPS staff supported her immediately upon hearing of her activation. They collected money to buy a laptop so McCormick could stay in contact with the school and her daughter through the computer. Their kind words of encouragement are what sustain a soldier through the tough days.

Buck Laughlin, IPS Prinicipal, was presented a certificate and a lapel pin with flags of the United States and ESGR, and a banner reading “Patriot.”

ESGR was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s commitment. Today, ESGR operates through a network of hundreds of volunteers throughout the nation.

The presentation was made by Jerry Hansen, Montgomery County Veterans Director, who is the Area 2 Military Liaison for the Iowa Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
