Woodbine too much for Wolverines in 76-6 win

Woodbine dominated defensively and racked up 329 yards rushing in a 76-6 win over East Mills in non-district Eight-player football Friday in Woodbine.
The Wolverines had a season-low in points and total yards (132) in the loss.
Quarterback Brody Pryor keyed the Tigers’ attack that jumped out to a 38-0 lead after a quarter. Prior completed 7-of-13 passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 53 yards rushing and three TDs.
Micah Moores led all rushers with 156 yards and two TDs on eight carries.
For the game, Woodbine netted 426 total yards.
East Mills coach Trenton Turney said the well-coached Tigers were as physical as advertised.
“They had the ability to hit the homerun ball on every pass and run,” Turney said. “Our offensive line I thought did really well, but their coverage was solid. They played a tight zone on us; when we were able to make catches they were right there to tackle us so we couldn’t gain more yards. Defensively Jackson Embree and Cooper Hagen had some nice tackles and filled up the tackle sheet for us.”
East Mills’ quarterback Caleb Urban finished his night 11-of-25 passing for 89 yards and a touchdown to Jackson Embree. The Wolverines could muster just 30 yards rushing on 17 carries.
Both teams will open postseason play Friday. The Wolverines (5-3) head out on the road to face undefeated Audubon (8-0) in their first round match up while the Tigers host Collins-Maxwell (5-3).
Turney said the Wheelers pose a big challenge for his team on the road.
“They run the ball pretty well, they’re all pretty tall and they have some athletes,” Turney said. “We are going to have to contain their run game. I anticipate we will have to come out 4-2 defense to help combat their run game. We might be able to mix it up and go 50/50 offensively when it comes to running and passing. We are going to lean heavy on our seniors Friday.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Audubon.
