Tigers sixth at Atlantic Invitational
The Red Oak boys cross country team took sixth at the Atlantic Invitational at the Nishna Hills Golf Course in Atlantic Thursday.
Lincoln (Neb.) Pius X swept the boys and girls team titles. The boys ran away with the boys team title behind David Krier’s top finish in 15:58 and four other runners in the top nine, while the Pius girls edged Glenwood 60 to 79 for the team title.
Lili Denton won the girls title with a time of 18:27.4.
Red Oak finished sixth, five points behind fifth place Winterset’s score of 170. Emmanuel Grass ran a 17:15 to lead the Tigers with a sixth place finish. Hayden Heitbrink ran a 17:52 for 14th place.
“The boys finished sixth behind some really great teams,” said Red Oak coach Sueann French. “Emmanuel and Hayden had a really great day. Pace and Osiel stuck right with the pack. We need to keep working on the spread between the first and fifth guy.”
Pace Chaillie was 45th, Osiel Pederson was 46th and Bryce Williams was 77th to complete the Tigers scoring.
The Red Oak girls were led by Marlee Perrien’s 68th place time of 24:54.
