Tigers pick up soccer program’s first win

The Red Oak boys soccer team got a hat trick from Nolan Case and the Tigers picked up their first career victory with a 4-1 win over Riverside in boys soccer Thursday.
The Tigers (1-8) jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and held off the Bulldogs with two second half goals.
Red Oak coach Mark Kells had to adjust his team’s game plan over its last three games due to personnel issues, but the tactical results have shown on the field.
“The guys played relentlessly the entire game even when Riverside cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second half,” Kells said. “When it becomes the next man up mentality as a coach you have keep reminding them that I believe in them and don’t give up, even if it comes to playing a different position on the pitch that they’re not used to playing because sometimes unfortunately as the coach I have to take them out of their comfort zone unlike when we are practicing.”
The Tigers had a season-high 11 total shots on goal.
Case, a freshman, scored three goals on five shots and Santiago Vasquez added a goal and assisted on two more.
Wyatt Roberts had seven saves in goal for Red Oak.
