Tigers claim victory in home opener

The Red Oak girls’ golf team secured a decisive victory in their first home meet of the season.
The Tigers carded a 196 to defeat Earlham (219), Glenwood (273), and Griswold (no team score).
Despite challenging conditions with cold temperatures, wind, and difficult pin placements, the Tigers persevered with positive attitudes, according to coach Patty Henke.
The individual standings were closely contested, ultimately resulting in a Red Oak sweep of the top honors. Brynn Knaus led the charge, earning the top medalist honors with an impressive 45. The runner-up position went to Addey Lydon, who prevailed in a card-off on the No. 2 handicap hole against Griswold’s Joanna Reynolds, both shooting a 48.
The Tigers’ Emily Sebeniecher followed closely behind with her consistent play shooting a 49, and Ellison Johnson’s 53 completed the Tigers team score. Teammates Riley Burke and Nellie Blaine shot 59 and 67.
