Tigers 18th at Pella meet

The Red Oak boys cross country team finished 18th at the Heartland Classic Cross Country Meet on the campus of Central College in Pella Saturday.
Dallas Center-Grimes captured the team title with a score of 86.
The Tigers finished with a score of 447, one point back of 17th place Dowling Catholic.
“The day was rainy and the course was muddy,” said Red Oak coach Sueann French. “Times were not great because of that. I was pleased that the boys battled both mentally and physically. Boys were falling and struggling but we stayed on our feet and fought. So proud of these boys.”
Emmanuel Grass led the Tigers with a ninth place finish time of 17:41. Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Cole Carrizales was the individual champion in 16:56.
Hayden Hietbrink added a 47th place finish time of 18:45, Osiel Pedersen was 71st in 19:20, Manuel DeLeon was 138th in 21:00, AJ Beeson 182nd in 24:05 and Pace Chaillie 187th in 24:37 to complete the Tigers’ scoring.
