Tigers’ Vasquez, Chaillie earn H-10 honorable mention nods

Red Oak’s Santiago Vasquez and Pace Chaillie earned honorable mention selection on the All-Hawkeye 10 Conference Boys Soccer Team released last week.
In a league-wide vote of coaches, Glenwood’s Colin Steel and Jace Tallmon, Creston’s Joaquin Flores, Denison’s Jose Leyva, Wilson Riphin and Isai Marquiz, Council Bluffs St. Albert’s Kyle Irwin, Cain Hughes, Morgan Young and Ben Krohm, Council Bluffs Lewis Central’s Adriene Robles, Broxton Hill and Emmett Lefeber and Kuemper Catholic’s Fletch Badding earned first team honors.
Flores, Zamago and Irwin earned unanimous first team nods by all coaches. Flores led the league with 42 goals this season.
Conference champion Denison led the way with four first team selections.
Vasquez and Chaillie helped the Tigers (2-16) to its first ever postseason win this season. Chaillie shared the team lead with seven goals and Vasquez led the squad with eight assists while putting in five goals.
