Tiger golfers second at Fillie Invite

The Red Oak girls narrowly missed the team title at the Fillie Invitational Golf Tournament on Thursday in Shenandoah.
The Tigers finished second with a team score of 377, just one stroke behind champion Clarinda. The event drew 72 individual golfers from 14 area teams.
Senior Brynn Knaus continued her impressive season, earning a medal with a seventh place finish after shooting an 87. Senior Addey Lydon also secured a medal, placing ninth with a score of 92.
The Tigers showcased their team depth with junior Emily Sebeinecher finishing in 16th (98) and junior Ellison Johnson placing 20th (100). Senior Riley Burke carded a 104 (22nd), and senior Nellie Blaine recorded a personal best of 107 (33rd).
“Our team demonstrated great strength today with consistent scoring throughout our lineup,” said Red Oak coach Patty Henke. “For our first 18-hole meet of the season, these scores are a good starting point, though we know we have higher aspirations. We learned a valuable lesson today about the importance of every stroke, and we will come back stronger.”

Brynn Knaus won top medalist honors and teammate Riley Burke was the runner up in Red Oak’s 189 to 221 girls golf dual victory over Southwest Valley last Monday at the Red Oak Country Club.
Knaus shot a 43 and Burke was five strokes back with a round of 48.
Emily Sebeniecher and Addey Lydon both carded a 49 to complete the Tigers’ scoring.
Sidney Crill carded a 50, Miaya Fourez and Katey Lillie a 56 and Grace Bain a 59 to complete Southwest Valley’s scoring.
