Stanton upsets East Mills in Corner volleyball

 Stanton knocked off Class A, No. 11 ranked East Mills 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 in Corner Conference volleyball last Tuesday in Stanton.
The Viqueens dropped the first set before rallying to win the final three to even up the season series with the Wolverines.
“We battled every play with numerous ties in each set,” said East Mills coach Connie Viner. “Stanton was quick and very aggressive on offense tonight.   We had 95 digs as a team and we were very scrappy, but just couldn’t put it all together to get the win.”
Lauren Johnson had a huge night for Stanton. The senior pounded down a career-high 41 kills to lead the Viqueen attack. Kyla Hart added six kills to go with 42 set assists.
Loycee Palmer led a balanced Wolverines attack with 15 kills. Brooke Jones added 14 kills and Evelyn Stoakes chipped in 13.
Venna Sayers paced the East Mills offense with 25 set assists.
