Red Oak seventh at Hawkeye 10 tennis tournament

The Red Oak tennis team competed in its final Hawkeye 10 Conference Tennis Tournament and came away with seventh place in Denison last Tuesday.
The Tigers, who will join the Western Iowa Conference next season, tallied 10 points for seventh place. Shenandoah won the team title with 32 points. The Mustangs’ Luke Daoust and Matt Holmes swept the No. 1 and No. 2 singles brackets and Teagan Brunk and Lucas Sun along with Ryan Lawrence and Levi Rystrom won the doubles brackets.
Red Oak’s Dillan Rydberg was sixth in the No. 1 singles bracket. The junior lost his opening match but bounced back to win his next two matches before falling in the fifth place match to Denison’s Grant Fink, 8-1.
In the No. 2 singles, the Tigers’ Jackson Perdue was seventh. He defeated Atlantic’s Michael Hocamp 9-8 in his final match.
The Tigers’ Kaleb Sebeniecher and AJ Beeson defeated Aiden Johnson and Wyatt Manes of Clarinda to place fifth in the No. 1 doubles.
In No. 2 doubles, Ethan Strunk and Damian Goodman finished eighth at the conference meet.
