Red Oak boys fifth at NWMSU Invitational

The Red Oak boys placed fifth out of 18 teams competing at the Northwest Missouri State High School Indoor Invitational Saturday in Maryville.
Blue Spring High School captured the team title with a score of 89. Red Oak tallied 39 points, one point back of fourth place Lenox.
The Tigers were led by a gold medal performance by Bryce Williams in the 3,200-meters. Williams notched a new personal record time of 11:16 to top the field.
“We had a decent day at Northwest,” said Red Oak coach Sueann French. “We brought home first place in the 3200. Bryce Williams really stepped up in that race.”
Reese Montgomery had a PR of his own in the 800-meters. The sophomore shaved four seconds off his time from the Iowa State Indoors to place fourth with a time of 2:07.9.
Cale Hall had another strong day, finishing fourth in the 60-meter dash and fifth in the 200-meters. Emmanuel Grass added a fourth place showing in the 1,600-meters and the distance medley relay team of Hall, Ethan Fouts, Brayden Sifford and Grass was fifth.
“Lots of fourth place finishes today,” French said. “Coach Bruce and I are really proud of the boys that raced today. We saw a lot of really good things. We are really excited about the outdoor season.”
