Denison blanks Red Oak in H10 soccer

Osvan Diaz scored four goals and Victor Menendez and Carlos Zamago added two each for Denison in an 11-0 win over Red Oak in Hawkeye 10 Conference boys soccer last Monday.
“The boys started off strong for the first 12 minutes of the game, and the Monarchs are a well-coached and well-seasoned team,” said Red Oak coach Mark Kells. “After the first 12 minutes the Monarchs put on a clinic going up and down the pitch. The Monarchs scored four goals within the next 8 minutes.”
Kells added, his team battled the rest of the first half but just couldn’t seem to find a shot on goal or find the back of the net. The Monarchs added another six goals during the next 15 minutes to take a 10-0 lead and with less than a minute to go they scored their 11th goal to close out the game.
Richard Gonzalez, Kevin Sanchez and Miguel Hernandez each added goals for the Monarchs.
For the game, Denison held a 22-0 margin in shots-on-goal.
Tiger goalkeeper Wyatt Roberts had seven saves in goal.
“We are at very young team for the most part,” Kells said. “I thought the guys played hard and they fought every minute of the game. We are still learning the game but the more minutes on the pitch the guys will get better each game.
“I thought Wyatt Roberts had an excellent game. Even though he gave up 11 goals he was under pressure the whole first half. He made some incredible saves against a talented Denison team.”
