Big sixth inning lifts Stanton past Red Oak
Stanton used a 6-run fourth inning rally to get by Red Oak 12-8 in non-conference softball in Stanton Saturday night.
Bree Mitchell picked up the win in the circle, scattering nine hits and five earned runs while fanning five.
Kyla Hart had three hits, and Victoria McFarland was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Cooper Stephens added two hits and drove in two runs.
Mhylee Joint took the loss after allowing eight hits and just one earned run while striking out two. The Viqueens were helped to 11 unearned runs on six Tiger errors.
Alexis Joint was 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs for Red Oak. Lucy DeMasi and Josie Sampson each drove in runs.

Evy Marlin blasted two home runs and Jersey Foote and Cora Smith each smacked home runs of their own for Creston in an 18-1 game one win over Red Oak. The Panthers then wrapped up the Hawkeye 10 Conference double-header sweep with a 14-2 game two victory Thursday.
Marlin was 2-for-2 on the night with four RBIs while Foote and Smith both drove in two runs each in game one.
Taryn Fredrickson struck out five and allowed two hits in the opening victory.
Tori Wendt singled and scored the Tigers’ lone run in game one.
In game two, Avery Starver, Taryn Frederickson and Mila Kuhns each had two hits and drove in two runs each for the Panthers.
Kenna Ramsey singled and drove in a run for Red Oak in the capper.

Peyton Athen struck out 10 and allowed just one hit in Shenandoah’s 16-1 victory over Red Oak in Hawkeye 10 Conference softball last Monday.
Abbagale Dumler was 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and Lyndie Green added two hits and two RBIs.
Alexis Joint doubled to drive in the Tigers’ lone run.
Kuemper sweeps Red Oak
Kuemper Catholic went on the road and grabbed a pair of wins from Red Oak in Hawkeye 10 Conference softball last Monday.
The Knights won game one 12-9 and the nightcap 24-4.
Charlotte Schwabe was the game one star for Kuemper, tossing a complete-game in the circle and going 4-for-5 at the plate and driving in two runs. Claire Venner and Kyla Wiskus added hits and drove in two runs each.
Myhlee Joint was credited with the opening loss after scattering eight hits and striking out seven. She did help her own cause with two hits and an RBI.
Alexis Joint smacked her first home run of the season for the Tigers and drove in three runs.
In game two, the Knights’ Elle Schreck led a Knight hit attack with a 3-for-5 night while driving three runs. Charlotte Schwabe, Claire Venner, Kayle Wolterman and Morgan Masching each notched two hits.
Addison Schon picked up the game two victory after allowing four hits and striking out seven in four innings.
Taylor Wendt led the Tigers in the game two with two hits and an RBI.
