Griswold scores wins at home meet

 GRISWOLD—The Griswold boys’ track team took third at their home meet Thursday when they recorded a score of 120.

Logan-Magnolia took first, while Fremont-Mills claimed second.

Jordan Vetter had the highlight for Griswold with a win in the 400-meter dash. Vetter ran a time of 54.24, beating out Riverside’s Tanner Storrow by nearly two seconds.

Griswold’s other win individually came in the 3,200 when David Thompson ran a time of 10:57.13, beating out Adair-Casey’s Cale Billheimer.

The Tigers won two relay races, including the distance medley when the team of Derek Kirchhoff, Aaron Metheny, Alex Dollen and Vetter ran a time of 3:50.94.

The shuttle hurdle team of Kirchhoff, Hadley Ogg, Dollen and Vetter also won with a time of 1:03.50.

Griswold had a couple of second place finishes, including in the 4x800 when the team of Wyatt Robinette, Taber Feltner, Heath Ogg and Chance Mace finished with a time of 9:32.70.

The other second place finish came in the 4x100 when Hadley Ogg, Metheny, Dollen and Kirchhoff ran a time of 46.67.

Individually, Mace had a second place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:16.22. Metheny was third in the long jump with 19’6.5”.

Garrett Beebe was fourth in both the discus and shot put.

Southwest Valley

The Timberwolves competed in the AA division at the Griswold Boys Tiger Relays as they finished third with a score of 84. Shenandoah won the meet with 130.

Scott Vanderhoof had the highlight for the Timberwolves with a win in the high jump. Vanderhoof jumped 5’10” to get the win. Teammate Colten Drake was fifth with 5’8”.

Tony Klocke had a second place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles with 16.23, while Wyatt McAlpin was second in the 800 with a time of 2:13.83.

The top relay race finish for Southwest Valley came in the shuttle hurdles when the team of Trevor Sorensen, Drake, Vanderhoof and Klocke ran 1:02.15 to place second.
