Griswold girls among top teams at Treynor’s Cardette Relays

  TREYNOR — The Griswold girls’ track team was the top finishing area team at last Tuesday’s Cardette Relays in Treynor.

Griswold finished ninth with a score of 38. Essex was 11th with 29 points, Red Oak took 13th with 18 points and East Mills was 16th with four. Shenandoah won the meet with 114.50.

The top individual finisher for Griswold was Alyssa Wyman, who finished fourth in the 1,500 with a time of 5:41.61.

Meanwhile, Jessica Marshall was sixth for Griswold in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.46.

The best relay race finish for Griswold came in the sprint medley when the team of Kayla Kirchhoff, Katie Duggan, Jeana Freund and Alyx Flippin took second with a time of 2:05.03.

Essex

The Trojanettes had a couple second place finishes, including one from sprinter Daiton Martin, who took the runner-up spot in the 100-meter dash. Martin ran a time of 13.85, a half second behind Underwood’s Emma Bonnet.

Martin also ran a leg in the 4x100 race when she, Jescenia Mosley, Amber Ohnmacht and Kym Graham were edged out at the finish line by Shenandoah as they ran a time of 54.85.

Mosley also had a sixth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles as she ran a time of 17.92.

Red Oak

Juhi Boeye continues to string together strong finishes for the Tigers as she was the top points scorer at the Cardette Relays. Boeye took second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.92. Ashley Brower meanwhile took fifth in the 3,000 with a time of 13:12.40.

The best relay finish for Red Oak came in the 4x100 when the team of Michaela Buntrock, Sierra Athen, Hannah Vial and Sydney Streicher took sixth with a time of 56.60.

East Mills

The best finish for East Mills took place in the high jump when Sarai Waddell finished fifth with a jump of 4’10”.
