Friday Football: 8-man questions to be answered Friday
The playoff spots are filled for 8-man District 8. By the end of Friday though, we’ll have an idea on who places where.
There are three games that feature teams fighting for first place.
For Southwest Valley, they have a chance to win a district title when they host Essex/South Page.
Meanwhile, Fremont-Mills takes on Lenox and Sidney takes on CAM.
The Timberwolves share first place with Fremont-Mills and Sidney. Thanks to Southwest Valley’s win last week against Fremont-Mills, the Timberwolves are in the district lead.
The point difference average will likely play a role in determining the outcome. Southwest Valley has 9.17, while Fremont-Mills has 9.
For Southwest Valley to win the district title, they would need a win by multiple touchdowns and/or a Sidney loss. The Timberwolves own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Fremont-Mills.
For Fremont-Mills to win the district title, they would need to win by a larger scoring margin than Southwest Valley. However, a Southwest Valley loss would clinch Fremont-Mills first place.
Sidney needs a multiple touchdown win and either a Fremont-Mills loss to Lenox, or Southwest Valley and Fremont-Mills close wins. Sidney owns the head-to-head tiebreaker against Southwest Valley.
The Timberwolves head into Friday looking for a 6-1 record in the district and 7-2 overall. They take on an ESP team that is in danger of a winless season.
ESP is coming off of a 34-20 loss to Nishnabotna last Tuesday. It was the closest margin for ESP in recent weeks.
The only non-playoff game takes place in Stanton as the Vikings host the Nishnabotna Blue Devils in their home finale.
Stanton has lost two straight, both to teams with playoff berths.
Nishnabotna got their first win of the season last week against ESP in South Page.
Both teams met in week zero as Stanton defeated Nishnabotna 48-28.
