Essex basketball loses to A-H-S-T

AVOCA — The Essex Trojans are 0-3 to start the season, after losing to A-H-S-T Thursday night, 59-50.

Zach Dailey and Jordan Jones each recorded 13 points to lead the Trojan scoring effort.

Jones in particular was two rebounds shy of a double-double.

Justin Moyer was also close to getting a double-double for the game as he finished with nine points and nine rebounds. Cameron Kinney and Levi Allen each recorded six points.

Last Tuesday, Essex lost to Nishnabotna, 58-56. Three Trojans finished with double-digit points.

Jones did get a double-double against the Blue Devils, scoring 19 points on 7-for-15 shooting, with 14 rebounds. Moyer also got a double-double as he scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Allen scored 17 points.

Last Monday, Essex lost to Underwood, 53-45, in  their first game this season. Allen and Jones both had double-digit scoring games.
Allen led with 16 points and five assists, while Jones had 12 points and nine rebounds.

Dailey, as well as Brett Johnson, each recorded six points in the game.

All three of Essex’s losses last week were by 10 points or less.
Essex is home Tuesday night when they play host to the East Mills Wolverines. Friday night, they’re home again to play the Clarinda Academy Eagles. Finally on Saturday, they head to Villisca to play the Blue Jays.
