Cleo F. Roby, 83

Cleo F. Roby, 83, of Red Oak, died Sept. 5, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society Care Center.

Cleo Faye Roby was born Feb. 15, 1926, in St. Charles the daughter of Charles and Mable (Hess) Clarke. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1943. Cleo married Paul Roby on April 16, 1945, in Des Moines. They lived in Truro, Fairfield, and Oskaloosa before moving to Red Oak in 1968. Cleo worked for a grocery store and the movie theater while in Truro and for the Sheriff’s Office in Fairfield. In Red Oak, Cleo worked for HyVee and during retirement years Paul and Cleo owned and operated Roby’s Cars.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Paul (Elvina) Roby; a sister: Lila Waller and in-laws: Betty Williams, Shirley Peppmeier, Otis Roby, Lila Parker, and Richard Roby.

Survivors include her husband: Paul Roby of Red Oak; children, Steven (fiancé Doris Ellison) Roby of Red Oak; Michael (Donna) Roby of Red Oak; and Robert (Jennifer) Roby of Plattsmouth, Neb.; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Edna Shreeves-Keeton of St. Charles; Norma Jean Lunnon of Fullerton, Calif.; Charles Clarke, Jr. (Mary Ann) of Beatrice, Neb.; Phillip (Carol) Clarke of Osceola; Norman Clarke of Waukee; Dorthea (Bill) Edmunds of Sandy, Utah; Judith (Ross) Bedwell of St. Charles; and Jerry (Charlotte) Clarke of Truro; sisters-in-law: Ann (Robert) Parker of Indianola; Dolores Roby of Indianola; and Pauline Roby of Aptos, Calif.

Funeral services will be Sept. 10 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
