Christmas tree drop site to be provided by city
RED OAK — While they can’t help with ugly sweaters and other unwanted gifts, the City of Red Oak is providing help to local residents to get rid of their Christmas trees.
While the brush site remains closed due to ongoing construction at the wastewater treatment plant, residents will be able to leave their Christmas Trees at the football field parking lot adjacent to Legion Park.
City Administrator Brad Wright said a sign will be put up identifying the drop site, but encourages people to only drop off trees.
“We are only able to accept trees, without lights and decorations,” he said.
Scott Wilson of The Green Tree Company voided a contract with the city earlier this year to provide a brush site due to several people dumping trash. The City then closed another temporary site after similar violations.
