W. A. “Bill” Stoural, 78

W. A. “Bill” Stoural, 78, of Norfolk died Feb. 5, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center. Bill was born on Aug. 4, 1930, at Verdigre, Neb., the son of Paul G. and Agnes (Sladek) Stoural. He graduated from Verdigre High School in 1947. He moved to Seattle, Wash., and was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company, as an airplane inspector. He entered the US Air Force on May 1, 1951. He served as a chaplain and was stationed in Alaska. He earned his honorable discharge on Dec. 5, 1952. On June 21, 1954, Bill married Betty Benson at Verdigre, Neb. They returned to Norfolk and began Home Health Medical Equipment, Inc. The family business has expanded to five other stores in the surrounding area. Bill remained the CEO of the company until the time of his death. He was a member of American Legion Post 16 and a Life member of VFW Post 1644. From 1964 - 1965 he served as the All State Commander in the VFW. Bill is survived by his children and their spouses: Vicki Valquardsen of Norfolk, Tammi (Marcus) Kamrath of Battle Creek, Kevin (Diane) Stoural of Norfolk and Terry and Tracy Stoural of Battle Creek; daughter-in-law Linda Bates of Macedonia; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances (Larry) Shafer, of Niobrara; and one brother, Paul Stoural, of Papillion, Neb. He was preceded in death by his son Brad and his parents. Visitations was held on Feb 9, at the Home for Funerals and resumed at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church with a rosary at 7:30. p.m. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Feb. 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Scott Hastings will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 16, VFW Post 1644 and the Nebraska National Guard Honor Guard.
