Viqueens lose to TJ

STANTON — The Stanton Viqueens lost to the Thomas Jefferson Yellow Jackets 10-4 on Friday night.

Kadie Subbert had a three hit night for the Viqueens and was a home run shy of batting for the cycle.

The senior scored two runs and drove in one more.

The Yellow Jackets controlled the game, hitting the ball 13 times, to go along with the 10 runs.

Shelby Wagg and Rachel Sorensen had the other hits for the Viqueens.
Stanton is now 10-5 for the season.

Last Thursday, Stanton defeated the Nishnabotna Warriors to sweep the regular season series, 4-3.

The difference in the game came in the sixth inning, when tied at 2-2, with runners at second and third base, Rachel Sorensen hit a single into left field to score two runs.

Kadie Subbert opened the game with a home run to give the Viqueens a 1-0 lead.

Subbert was 2-for-4 with  a triple and two runs scored.

The Viqueens had lost last Tuesday to the Fremont-Mills Knights, 4-jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to a RBI single by Carmen Subbert.

Fremont-Mills scored four runs in the third inning, to take a 4-1 lead.
It would be the only runs the Knights scored.

Stanton scored in the bottom of the third thanks to another RBI single by Carmen Subbert, to cut the lead to 4-2.

Shelby Wagg scored for the Viqueens in the fourth inning, thanks to a double by her younger sister Kimber.

The Viqueens final scoring opportunity came in the fifth inning when a dropped pop fly put Kadie Subbert on base. Subbert stole second to put herself in scoring position.

However a Carmen Subbert groundout ended the inning with Kadie stranded.

Kadie Subbert was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases.
Roey Sink pitched the complete game in the loss. Sink gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits, while striking out seven.

On the other side, Mindy Lorimor was credited with the win, giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits and striking out eight. Lorimor also had a home run in the game.

The Viqueens have their final game of the regular season on Tuesday, as they take on the Sidney Cowgirls.
