Villisca man dies Thursday in motorcycle wreck
SHENANDOAH — Early Thursday, just after midnight Matthew Samo, of Villisca, died after his motorcycle crashed outside of Shenandoah.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Samo was riding a 1990 Honda north on Highway 48 just north of Shenandoah. As Samo traveled on Highway 48 approaching A Avenue, he veered to the left and continued through a ditch and back up the embankment.
Samo was thrown from the motorcycle and collided with the railroad crossing sign post and continued through the ditch and colliding with the railroad rail.
The motorcycle came to rest on its side facing northeast on the east side of A Avenue. The motorcycle was totaled.
Samo was not wearing a helmet or any other type of protective riding equipment. Shenandoah rescue responded to the accident where Samo was transported to Shenandoah Hospital.
Death notification was made by Page County Sheriff’s Office.
