Villisca man dies in crash

A Villisca man was killed Saturday night when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a train.
According to a press release from Montgomery County Emergency Management, at 11:24 p.m. the Montgomery County Communications Center received a call from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Police Dispatch reporting a train versus vehicle accident in the area of the train crossing on 7th Avenue in Villisca. It was determined that the driver, Bradley Lee Dumler of Villisca, died as a result of the accident. There were no other injuries or parties involved.
The release said, “The investigation has determined that the vehicle was stopped in the middle of the crossing between the rail arms prior to being impacted by an eastbound train. All railway markers, lights and stop arms were in working order and inspected after the accident and continued to show in working order.”
Villisca Fire & Rescue, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Emergency Management and Burlington Northern Santa Fe assisted at the scene.
