Villisca gets win over Fremont-Mills

TABOR—The Villisca Blue Jays boys’ basketball team got back to its winning ways last Tuesday night in a 57-51 victory over Fremont-Mills.
The big difference in the game was in the first quarter, when Villisca scored 20 against the Knights. Villisca was able to score at least 11 points in the next three quarters, including 14 in the fourth.
Three Blue Jays ended the night with double-figure scoring. In fact, the trio combined for 48 of Villisca’s 57 points.
Marshall Dolch led the way for Villisca with 22 points on 6-of-16 shooting.
He was also 7-of-10 at the free throw line and grabbed seven rebounds. Dolch currently leads the Corner Conference in scoring and is third in 1A with 25.1 points per game.
Joel Geier of Preston and Tim Olejniczak of Ankeny Christian Academy sit ahead of him in 1A.
Timmy Myers earned another double-double for the season,  with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The double-double is Myers’ fifth in a row and his sixth of the season. Myers leads the conference in rebounding and sits among the top 10 in 1A.
Nick Eblen scored 15 points for the Blue Jays and was 3-of-6 from three-point range and 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

They will be back in action Jan. 10 when they travel to Corning to take on the Red Raiders. On Jan. 11, they travel to Malvern to face East Mills.
