Vikings lose two straight on the road

SIDNEY — The woes continued for the Stanton boys basketball team following a 54-35 loss to the Sidney Cowboys last Tuesday in Sidney.

Stanton scored two points in the first quarter as Sidney jumped out to a double-digit lead. The lead for the Cowboys was 36-7 at halftime. Stanton was able to recover and close the gap slightly, but the deficit was too big.

Jeff Marshall had a busy night as he scored 14 points with 10 rebounds, giving him a double-double in the loss.

Additionally, Marshall also had four assists, four steals and two blocks.

Collin Strickland and Cade Confer were both shy of double-digit points, each finishing with eight. David Sorensen scored five points, the only other Viking to score in the game.

Stanton was scheduled to play Fremont-Mills last Thursday, but the game was postponed because of the winter storm.
