Vikings eliminated in quarterfinals

FARRAGUT — The Stanton Vikings basketball team was eliminated from the Corner Conference basketball tournament after a loss to East Mills in the quarterfinals last Tuesday, 59-27.

East Mills had the 12-8 lead after the first quarter, but Stanton fought back and was only down 20-19 at halftime.

The Wolverines exploded in the second half, outscoring the Vikings 37-10, including a 21-point fourth quarter.

Stanton was led in scoring by Jeff Marshall, who scored 10 points.

Greg Focht and Shayne Larson combined to score 16 points for the Vikings.

The Wolverines Luke Schafer meanwhile was the leading scorer as he recorded 19 points on 9-of-17 shooting.

Stanton plays Tuesday night at South Page and will be home Friday night to play East Mills again.
